Skin Remedies In Your Cupboard

June 19, 2011

This is a guest post by Alyssa Johnson who runs the website Acne Centre. She’s going to write a bit about her own favorite skin care remedies.

Peachy!

Let’s face it, taking care of your skin is expensive. Americans alone spend an estimated three billion dollars on beauty products a year. THREE BILLION DOLLARS. With the state of the current economy, many of us are looking for cheap ways to take care of our skin. Yet, we want the cheap methods to work just as well as our past, more expensive, products. No matter what state the economy is, we’re always going to want to look our best, to have great looking skin. The following list outlines a number of different remedies to common skin problems many of us come across from time to time and how we can go about fixing these problems with simple at home remedies.

Lime Juice

Lime juice, when used properly, is something of a fix for your skin. Have oily skin? Try squeezing half a lime into a bowl of ice water and then splash this onto your face and massage for five minutes and wash. Dry Skin? Mix a few drops of lime juice and olive oil with a raw egg and apply to the face. After the mixture has completely dried, wash off with lukewarm water and then splash with ice water. Bags under the eyes? Mix four drops of lime juice and ice water and then apply to a cotton ball. Let these cotton balls rest on closed eyes for ten minutes. Problem solved!

Peach Skin

Peel a peach (and by all means, eat it!) and massage the moist side of the skin of the peach onto your face for a minute or two before you go to sleep.. Do not wash the peach juice off before going to sleep. Peach skin serves a number of different purposes. First, it well help cleanse your face by unclogging its pores. Secondly, it acts as an astringent. This means that it’s going to help keep the muscles in your face tight which, over the long run, will help prevent sagging.

Yogurt

Many people are aware of the multiple ways in which yogurt can be used as a beauty product. To help give your skin a smooth, healthy, and refreshed look apply a layer of yogurt to your face every morning. Let it sit for a few minutes and then remove with cold water. The effects of this method should be readily apparent and will only increase over time.

Watermelon Juice

Watermelon juice can be used to help reduce the appearance of skin blemishes and acne. Simply squeeze a slice of watermelon and then apply liberally to the face. Let it sit for about a quarter hour and then remove using hot water. Splash the face after with cold water.
