Muesli!

Making your own muesli is cheap, easy and so yummy! You can add all kinds of ingredients to make a healthy and filling start of the day.

This is what I made yesterday:

4 dl rolled oats
3 dl rye bran
1 dl mixed nuts, crushed (almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, peanuts)
1 dl sunflower seeds

2 tbs honey
1 tbs cinnamon
1 dl water
2 tbs olive oil

  • Mix all the grains and nuts, put in a baking tray.
  • Mix together the wet ingredients (+cinnamon) and distribute evenly over the grains.
  • Bake in the oven, 200°C, for about 30 minutes, checking in every 10 minutes to stir

Once out of the oven and cooled, you can add some other stuff, for instance:

  • Wheat germ (this dried thing, not the fresh sprouts)
  • Linseeds and/or phsyllium seeds
  • Blueberry or other berry powder
  • Crushed crispbread
  • Crushed cornflakes
  • Dried fruit (raisin, apricot, dates, apple ……)

I actually put all of these things in! Works really well, but really you don’t need anything else than oats and some nuts.

Serve with yogurt or milk – I prefer thick turkish yogurt – and possibly berries or fruit.
